Living Conditions

The city of Bristol is located in the South-West Region of the United Kingdom and is the most populous city in the area. Bristol boasts itself as the center of culture, employment and education in the region with the University of Bristol as one of the highest ranking universities in the United Kingdom. Situated in the south, Bristol is one of the warmest cities in the UK as well as the sunniest.

For Prospective Bruneian students:
  • Despite being a city, it has a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
  • There are numerous halal restaurants for the Muslim students situated around the University and city centre.
  • The main areas of Bristol are quite compact, with everything ranging from entertainment, shopping or education found close to one another so there is very little need of public transportation.
  • Bristol is the first-ever cycling city with many students choosing the bicycle as their main form of transportation.
  • Bristol has frequent trains to London between Bristol Temple Meads and London Paddington which take between 1hr 45 min to 2 hrs.
  • Friday Prayers are conducted at a room in the Student's Union, organised by the Bristol Islamic Society (Brisoc).
  • Bristol is generally a hilly area (sport shoes highly recommended).
  • Bristol has numerous clubs and bars which may pose a noise problem at night, especially near the city centre and Clifton triangle area.
